I tried this Blueberry Habanero Glazed Ham recipe idea out this Easter with a traditional Spiral Cut uncured Smoked Ham and then once again this May for a picnic with a smoked shoulder ham that was picnic sandwich sliced.  My conclusion is that this glaze tastes good no matter what it is on and no matter what the even it is a hit.  A lot of the guest were worried about it being to spicy but all of the guest who were most worried about it complemented it the most!  I really love habaneros because along with a little  heat they bring a really nice sweet flavor.  Pair that nice sweet heat with really any fruit and you are going to have a great flavor!  This great way to pair habaneros also has the added benefit of the heat of the pepper being mostly hidden away. All in all you can not go wrong with this Glaze on any type of ham!  Enjoy!

Ingredients:
Ham
1 (5-6 lb) uncured smoked ham (picnic sliced or spiral cut, shoulder or leg)

Glaze
3 cloves garlic (diced)
1 shallot (diced)
2 green onions (diced)
2/3 cup blueberry preserves
1 habanero (seeded, Diced)
1 tbsp butter (melted)
1 tsp dark brown sugar
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
kosher salt (to taste)
fresh crack pepper (to taste)

Glaze
Mix all ingredients together in a small mixing bowl until even.

Ham
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Place ham into a baking safe dish.  Spread spirals (or cut pieces) apart and drizzle 1/2 of the glaze between the ham slices and then drizzle and spread the remaining half over the top of the ham.  Place ham in oven and cook for 1 hour uncovered or until an internal temperature of 140 degrees is reached.  Serve hot and enjoy!
