After cooking these burgers I was having trouble coming up with a name for them. We had just purchased the vegetables that went into the burger at the farmers market so I really wanted to have the garden in the name. But when I said, "Garden something burger," It seemed misleading. I mean this was no veggie burger! Then Andrew said, "the Garden Gobbler!" It was basically the perfect name, so that is what I named it!
Ingredients:
Burgers
1 1/2 lb ground turkey
1 tbsp 1 tsp carrots (shredded)
1/4 cup green bell peppers (seeded, chopped)
1/4 cup red onions (chopped)
1/4 jalapeno (seeded, diced)
fresh crack pepper (to taste)
2 tbsp Italian bread crumbs
1/4 cup ranch dressing (instructions below)
3 garlic cloves (diced)
Misc
1/4 cup Brummel and Brown
1 tsp garlic powder
4 potato buns
1/4 cup ranch dressing (instructions below)
4 slices habanero jack
3 tbsp Root beer BBQ sauce
Ranch
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sour cream
2 tbsp cup buttermilk
1/2 tsp fresh baby dill (chopped)
1/2 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
1/4-1/2 tsp hot sauce
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
kosher salt (to taste)
fresh crack pepper (to taste)
Misc
Spread 1/2 tbsp of Brummel and Brown onto inner side of each bun and then sprinkle 1/8 tsp of garlic powder over each bun. Sit to side until ready to use.
Ranch
In a small bowl whisk together all ingredients until smooth. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
Burgers
In a medium mixing bowl mix together all burger ingredients except the garlic until even. Separate mixture into four even amounts and form four hamburger patties. Lay patties on plate and sprinkle diced garlic over the tops of the patties, gently press the garlic into the tops of the patties.
Heat grill to medium high. Once heated place patties garlic side up on medium grill and cook for 7-8 minutes. Flip patties and grill for another 7-8 minutes or until burgers are cooked through.
(The last two minutes of cooking add garlic bread buns to top grill and toast. The last minute of grilling add cheese to burgers, if not fully melted don't worry, when you remove the burgers from the grill the cheese will continue to melt.)
Spread 2 tsp of BBQ sauce on all the bottom buns add patty and then top with 2 tsp-1 tbsp of the ranch. Serve hot and enjoy!
