As a kid I hated meat loaf. I do not know why I hated it because I loved how it smelled and tasted... But I would sometimes refuse to eat it. I hear a lot of parents that have this same problem. Well problem solved! Make a Meatza! What is a Meatza? It is a Meat Loaf that resembles a Pizza! And if your kid does not like pizza... Well just give up on them now because it is not going to get any better (just kidding.) Enjoy!
Ingredients:
Loaf
1 lb hot Italian sausage
1 egg
2 red garlic cloves
1/4 shallot
Butter for aluminium foil
Toppings
1/4 of a white or green bell pepper (chopped)
3/4 of a shallot (diced)
4 tomatoes slices
4 oz mozzarella fresh (slices)
9 pickled jalapeno slices
5-6 large basil leaves
1/3 cup panko crumbs
2-3 tbsp Parmesan
salt (to taste)
Fresh crack pepper (to taste)
pasta dust (to taste)
Loaf
Mix all ingredients together in a large mixing bowl until even. Then place on a large sheet of buttered aluminum foil and shape into a 10-12 inch round patty.
Meatza
Preheat grill to high.
Top the meat patty with panko crumbs and gently press into the loaf. Dust tomatoes with Salt, pepper and pasta dust. Spread out tomato slices and basil leaves evenly. Sprinkle bell peppers and shallots over tomatoes evenly then top with jalapeno slices. Spread out fresh mozzarella slices and then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
Place Meatza (resting on the aluminum foil) onto the grill and cook for 10-12 minutes. Turn heat to low and cook another 15 minutes or until cooked through. Slice into 4-8 slices and enjoy!
