This is of my favorite Southern inspired dips that I have ever had. Heck it is straight up one of my favorite dips period! Zo worked on I do not know how many versions of this until she found perfection! You really need to try this Cheesy Bacon Greens Dip even if you are not a fan of greens. It is great with pita chips, tortilla chips or crackers.
Ingredients
Dip
1/2 cup neufchatel
1/4 cup sour cream
1/3 cup mayonnaise
3/4 cup onion (chopped)
2 cloves garlic (diced)
2 oz pancetta (diced)
1/4 tsp cayene pepper
4 cups mixed greens collard, turnip, mustard (chopped)
1 tbsp Louisiana hot sauce
kosher salt (to taste)
fresh crack pepper (to taste)
Garnish
1 1/4 cup green onions (chopped)
2 tbsp jalapeno (seeded. diced)
In a medium skillet over medium high heat saute onion, garlic and pancetta for 5-7 minutes. Add greens and cook until totally wilted (7-10 minutes.)
In a medium mixing bowl mix together remaining ingredients with greens mixture until even. Pour dip into a medium sized backing dish and bake at 350 degrees until bubbly and top is browning (20-30 minutes).
Top with garnish and serve hot with chips and crackers.
